The first phase of the CAP is now underway - to do a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory .
Why is this important? You can't manage what you don't measure!
We can already see that in our area, the vast majority of greenhouse gasses are caused by transportation.
We are assessing:
1) Energy Consumption
2) Leaked refrigerants, suppressants and other gasses.
3) Biogenic processes
4) Biochemical processes.
Once we have a baseline of current emissions, we can:
1) Create emission reduction targets.
2) Monitor progress in reducing emissions.
3) Make informed decisions when designing climate/energy programs and plans.
4) Be prepared to deal with CEQA and environmental review procedures.
